Tutors help students to learn on a one-to-one basis. Some tutors specialize in one academic field. For example, a Spanish tutor will only help students learn Spanish. Some tutors are self-employed. Some tutors work for tutorial firms which employ many tutors. Some tutors work for schools and help only students who go to that institution. Some tutors only help young children who are having problems in elementary school. Some tutors only help teenage students who are struggling in a middle school or high school class. Other tutors help university or college students grasp what is being taught in certain classes. Some tutors specialize in helping students prepare for college entrance exams or other standardized tests. Often tutors, especially at the university level, are students themselves.
