Although the term “Oriental” is somewhat outdated, it generally refers to the Far East and East Asia although it can also refer to the Near East as well. Oriental goods, or Asian goods, are to be found on the market at Oriental good retailers and Oriental stores. Some Oriental goods retailers are Asian grocers that carry foods used in Asian cooking, Chinese cooking, Thai cooking, Vietnamese cooking, and Korean cooking. Other Oriental goods stores specialize in selling other kinds of items from the Orient, Asia and the Near and Far East such as Asian clothing, Asian art, and Asian furniture. Some Oriental stores specialize in selling items from the Near East such as places like Iran, Turkey, the Arab world, and Persia. Sometimes Oriental goods stores will specialize in selling Oriental rugs, Persian rugs or Turkish rugs.
