Landfills
Landfills are where both residential and commercial garbage is sent. There are companies under private management that will come out and collect trash, including those that may be a hazard or radioactive and cannot be disposed of by taking it to where other waste is sent. Disposal of waste in a landfill is done by burying the trash. Different companies have designed places to where the operation will take place. Each landfill will have requirements when it comes to sanitary measures employees must follow. Neighborhoods will often have a waste removal tax included in your bill to cover the cost of having your trash picked up once or twice a week on certain days. Some alternative ideas are forming on ways to create energy by taking the gas that is made from burying waste and converting it into energy. The government wants people to take part in recycling programs to try and reduce the amount of garbage being sent to elimination sites, including sites that incinerate solid waste. Modern construction has created ways to try and minimize the amount of solid waste that is effecting the environment. Better sanitary requirements can impact the environment in a positive way. If you own a commercial property that needs waste picked up each week, you can find a company online or in a phone book that will come out and dispose of the garbage properly depending on what type of trash it is. You can compare prices from multiple companies you talk to when trying to find the more affordable option.

A landfill is a carefully designed structure built into or on top of the ground, where trash and solid waste is deposited. Landfills keep trash isolated from the surrounding environment by use of a liner, and a daily covering of soil or foam. The two primary types of landfills are sanitary landfills, that use clay liners, and municipal solid waste landfills, that use a synthetic liner. The main parts of a landfill include the bottom liner, the cells where trash is stored, the storm water drainage system that collects rain water, the leachate collection system that collects water than has leached through the landfill, the methane collection system which collects the gas generated during trash breakdown, and the cap that seals the top of the landfill.
