When people grow old, they often find that they need special care to live safely or that they wish to downsize into more moderate and less-demanding accommodations. In such cases, elderly people and senior citizens move into senior housing, assisted living centers or nursing homes. Seniors who can still get around fine and who can still live alone but do not want the hassle of taking care of a house often move into senior housing. Senior housing is normally found in apartment complexes with units that can only be rented by people over a certain age. When people need some taking care of but do not need constant medical supervision, they often move into assisted-living centers or assisted-living homes. At assisted living centers residents are monitored but they do not get around-the-clock medical care. When the elderly reach an age that they need constant medical supervision, they should move into a nursing home. At nursing homes, medical personnel constantly keep tabs on the well being of residents.
