Estates can have many meanings but the common law meaning might be legal rights, interests, entitlements and obligations attaching to property. Estates might contain such things as wills and probate. Estates may refer to the totality of the property that the deceased owned, and perhaps some interest was held. Estates can also refer to the land that belongs in the estate. Estate in land might be known as estates of inheritance and other estates that are not of inheritance. Most estates pass to the owner's heirs by law with restrictions or perhaps no restrictions. Estates may have limitations in place by previous owner, which may be followed per the common law.
