Embroidery is the art or handicraft of decorating fabric or other materials with designs stitched in strands of thread or yarn using a needle. Embroidery may also incorporate other materials such as metal strips, pearls, beads, quills, and sequins. Embroidery can be applied to a wide variety of items, and is commonly found on clothing such as shirts, blouses, skirts and pants, and on fine linens such as tablecloths and napkins. Embroidery can be applied by hand, or by machine. You will often see t-shirts and hats with embroidered designs such as company logos, sports team names and/or logos, and other designs.
