How to find or choose doctors
Doctors are medical professionals trained in the healing arts, and are licensed to practice medicine. There are many different types of doctors, also called physicians, such as a surgeon, oncologist, orthopedic doctor, gynecologist, pediatric doctor, and veterinarian. Dentists are dental doctors and can clean teeth, take an xray, and perform dental surgery. Eye doctors, also called ophthalmologists, concentrate on the eye. Other doctors specialize in the heart, body, ears and even implant replacement surgery. Doctors take care of people when they are sick, providing a hospital stay, surgery, general medical care, and treatment. They attempt to cure, treat and provide physical testing to those in need, through patience and medicine care. A doctor is often times assisted by a nurse, no matter what specialty he or she is in. Doctors must go to school for many years, followed by an internal residency at a hospital or medial clinic before getting their MD or Dr license. Then they can work out of a private practice, or they can operate as part of a medical health clinic or hospital. You can find specialist doctors in your area and specialty by checking your local phone book or searching online directory listings. Narrow your search down to specialty, hospital or clinic affiliation, insurance acceptance and health treatment methods. Whether you have the flu, heart problems, HIV or STDs, you can find care by a Dr at a medical clinic, center, hospital or private practice. Physicians can treat your symptoms with medication and tests, and if necessary, surgeons can operate. If you don’t have a doctor or would like to make an appointment, choose a few different doctors to start with. Many physicians and surgeons are part of a group, collaborating with each other and prepared to replace one another if one is off duty.
