Industrial design is an applied art and profession that determines the form of a manufactured product, such as the aesthetics and usability of consumer goods. Industrial designers shape products to fit the people who use them, and the industrial processes that produce them. Design aspects specified by the industrial designer may include the shape of the object, the location of details with respect to one another, colors, texture, sounds, and aspects concerning the ergonomics of use. Industrial designers may also study and specify aspects of the production process, materials used, and presentation of the product to the consumer. Industrial designers work to make our lives more comfortable, pleasurable and efficient through the intelligent design of the products we use every day.
