How to find or choose Alzheimer’s care and services
Alzheimer's Disease is a progressive and fatal brain disease that affects the memory. Usually this disease is associated with the geriatric community, causing memory impairment in the elderly. As the disease progresses and the person's long- and short-term memory becomes increasing impaired, he or she may be placed in a nursing home, senior housing, senior community, aging services facility, or assisted living center, or may require hospice care, home health care services, rehabilitation hospital, occupational therapy, and assistance by a trained specialist. There are treatments, drugs and therapies to help people cope with Alzheimer's, although there is no known cure at this time. To learn more about this debilitating disease that strikes older people, there is no shortage of information on the topic at your local library, on the Internet or at your doctor's office. You can find out anything from the latest Alzheimer's research to local community resources to Medicaid acceptance to disabled services. Talk to your doctor to find out the best course of action for your loved one suffering from Alzheimer's and do all the research you can on the disease. An Alzheimer's care and services facility or agency may exist in your town or city with the proper manager training and specialist experience. Check the phone book for such services and agencies, or search online directory listings. At Alzheimer's care and services facilities, experts and case manager specialists can give advice, health, referrals and research information, as well as provide community resources for those in need. Ultimately, you want to find a safe, qualified, Alzheimer's care facility or agency that will treat you or your older loved one with respect and privacy, providing the best possible care in aging services, geriatric care and memory impairment.

Alzheimer's is a memory impairment experienced by a large proportion of the geriatric population - five percent of those aged 65 to 74 will develop Alzheimer's disease, while the incidence increases to nearly 50% for those over 85 years old. As America's population ages, Alzheimer's treatment, care and services will become even more essential to the country that they currently are. Home health care, nursing homes and Medicaid and similar agencies will all need more resources than ever before to deal with the increase in necessary geriatric services. Disabled and aging patients will require specialized services, treatments and therapies as new drugs become available and the rapid spread of Alzheimer's is slowed or even stopped.
