How to find or choose actuaries
Actuaries, through their knowledge of statistics, finance, and business, assess the risk of certain events occurring in the future. They often work for the insurance industry, designing creative policies that minimize risk and the financial impact on clients. Actuaries may also design insurance policies and pension plans, utilizing their backgrounds in statistics and finance. Actuaries or actuarial consultants must be creative and work well with numbers, able to assess future risk events and their impacts. They must be able to look at the hard numbers and come up with an evaluation of each case. Insurance companies rely heavily on such evaluations and base their policies on them.
