Psychologists counsel clients and diagnose behavioral, emotional, and cognitive disorders. They help people work toward the enhancement of emotional, physical, and interpersonal functioning. Psychologists are not medical doctors, although they hold a non-medical Doctoral Degree in Psychology. Their training may have included exposure to various specialties such as behavioral, developmental, and social psychology. Private practice Psychologists are usually called Clinical Psychologists. Rather than work in a lab or university, they counsel clients in a private office. After your initial appointment, the Psychologist will determine the frequency of your future visits. You can check with your health insurance company to determine your degree of coverage for mental health services.
